Why go to Mykonos? The Greek Party Island!

Little Venice ! Great restaurants, clubs and nightlife! My spot every night!

Ahhh… Mykonos, the “party island”.  And I do mean party! But Mykonos is also known for its fabulous beaches as it’s less cliffy than Santorini.  The shopping is amazing from Designer shops like Louis Vuitton and Chanel to locals selling their wares.  There’s even a Sephora! But there is definitely a lot more to this fabulous island in Greece. What is fun about Mykonos is that there is a lot more hustle and bustle, particularly in Mykonos Town, like Old Port and Little Venice. The beaches here have soft, golden sand, but can be very crowded in July and August. And beware of the cost of chaise lounge rentals ranging from $30.00 to $80.00 USD to rent a chair!

The Windmills in Mykonos Town! Absolutely fabulous to see!

Fabulous hotel with stunning views of Aegean Sea!

It’s easier to get around Mykonos because most of the attractions are all closer to each other, such as the old port and the popular beaches. Public buses are the best way to get around costing approximate $2.00 to any destination. The buses area very nice like charter buses so they are very comfortable.  You can rent scooter and atvs if you are adventurous. I have to say that a lot of hotels near Mykonos town are situated high and require walking once the bus drops you off as buses cannot go up the narrow road leading to your fabulous hotel. I recommend taxis if you are not fit, older or too drunk or tired to walk the hill. Taxis are not that costly, as my cousin and I negotiated late night and we were happy with our efforts!  There are only 30 taxis in Mykonos so in the summer months, it could be very hard to find one so beware!

Mykonos, Greece is more expensive than Santorini, Greece but if you chose to visit here, then you should be prepared. I recommend traveling in September where prices drop somewhat.

My cousin, Jehada and I enjoying the Mykonos nightlife in Little Venice. Every.Night.Was.A.Party.

We stayed at Myconian Kyma which is very close to Mykonos town.  We walked about 16 minutes to town but at night could be quite dangerous as cars travel fast and it’s a dark road.  Remember Mykonos town is for partying and eating and shopping so if this is your destination at night, you will have a ball. Stores and bars remain open til sunrise.

We spent most of our time in Mykonos Town, doing some shopping, eating Greek food and seafood at the best places!  We beached and cruised on semi private boat excursions, which I highly recommend. IT IS A MUST! You will see Red beach, hot springs and the gorgeousness the island has to offer. Mykonos Town is simply amazing!  As you meander through crossing winding alleys, you will admire beautiful crafts and artwork, try souvlaki for the first time, take pictures of the sea and the windmills. Every corner you will discover new things sure to make you smile. And just so you know, you will get lost in the endless winding white alleys.  There are endless pleasures for your senses to experience!

Just like Santorini, the beautiful sea is everywhere you turn, but here in Mykonos, you can enjoy the many beaches because this island is not as cliffy as Santorini.

Our Hotel

This is our very own private pool overlooking the Aegean Sea! What a sunrise. Simply beautiful. #myconiankyma

I prefer the best in my lodging always so we chose Mykonos Kyma near Mykonos Town. Few places better capture the pristine beauty of Mykonos’ and its sense of timelessness than Myconian Kyma. Perched atop a hill with glorious views of the Aegean Sea, the 52-room, 29-suite property is a luxurious and secluded retreat, yet only a short stroll from the heart of the island’s thriving nightlife in Mykonos Town.   https://www.designhotels.com/hotels/greece/mykonos/myconian-kyma .

Jehada enjoying her poolside meal which was gratis! Long story…

At this swanky spot, we awakened to a light-flooded Champagne full breakfast with stunning views of the sea and a lavish spread of delights that, like all the food prepared by a wonderful chef, Panagiotis Tsoukato. We dined poolside most mornings till late afternoon listening to a live jazz singer who sang mostly throw back R&B ballads!  To be in Mykonos, Greece enjoying stunning views and listening to music that I can move my hips to, was simply surreal. Mind, body and spirt was awakened!

We would definitely stay here again! Caveat:  Our room was quite small for two Divas. We did have our own private pool which was amazing. We made it work, but would definitely recommend upgrading to larger room or getting your own room if two women traveling!

For those a smaller budget, there are hostels and Airbnb places as well, but make sure to book in advance, it fills up quick during the summer!

Poolside jazz/r&b brunch before we head out shopping!

Scorpios Beach

Gorge and I after sunset at Scorpios! Greek men at their finest:))

At one of the very rare beach locations on Mykonos offering uninterrupted views across the open sea, horizons of blue mix with yellows, golds, and pinks born of the generous Cycladic sun. Be it a chilled gathering of friends or a day of contemplative, creative solitude, this beach is a sublime retreat in every sense of the word!  A few dozen wooden cabanas and sunbeds, elegant in their simplicity, blend discreetly with their natural surroundings. Privacy reigns supreme until the Sunset Rituals begin around 6:30 pm each day, igniting the nocturnal energies of Scorpios Beach. The sunset here is truly out of this world. This place is SPECIAL! Be prepared to spend a whopping $35.00 on average drink!! It is here where met millionaire Iranian Johan of Cardiff, Wales and his billionaire bestie.  We popped bottles with them for the rest of the night till the wee hours of the morning!

Souvlaki Story

In Mykonos Town is an eatery surrounded by the wonders of this magical place. It’s Souvlaki Story! Here you will find true greek food that is delicious and inexpensive with the average platter costing about $12.00USD or less.  Eat outside for amazing people watching! A Must do!  Check out http://www.souvlakistory.com

Launched as a summer pop-up in June 2015, BONBONNIERE MYKONOS has quickly become a popular nightlife destination amongst the island’s global jet set looking for an unforgettable party experience. And boy, did we find it here. Nothing but bottle service here if you want to fit in!

Centrally located on the island in the Tria Pigadia area in the ODE Mykonos nightclub space, and directly across the Louis Vuitton boutique, BONBONNIERE MYKONOS has already attracted star DJs and celebrities including the likes of Nicole Scherzinger and Lindsay Lohan.

Open 24 hours and serving locally inspired cuisine during the day on the expansive outdoor terrace, BONBONNIERE MYKONOS transforms during the evening entertaining island partygoers looking to experience the island’s world renowned night life.

This place is proud to offer the most expensive champagne show on the island famously known as “The Bonbonniere” – where bottles of champagne are delivered table side in a giant Fabergé Egg!

Little Venice Bars and Nightclubs

If you want to sit, relax and have a gorgeous view, there are plenty of cafes and bars along the coast in Little Venice. Most people choose to lounge in the chairs outside, closest to the sea.

Mykonos is pure adult fun, has a beach-y culture and has many options for dining and shopping.  I think Any one grown and sexy will simply LOVE this place! I can’t wait to return to the most beautiful place in the world.
