Are you happy? Happiness is a choice! Choose to be happy!
Exhausted? Sad? Frustrated? Bummed out? We’ve all been there. If you have ever had one of those days, I’ve created this list to help you put pep back in your step and a smile on your face.
Have you been talking to yourself in your head all day? Telling yourself “You probably shouldn’t do that,” or “That won’t look right?” You may not even realize it, but staying inside your own head too much can drive you crazy! This list will help you boost your self-esteem, and perhaps lay off the in-your-head insults. Think positively.
These 7 little tricks do a great job to lift your spirit!
1. Get Fancy
When you look good, you feel good. It’s true! After a long week, it can be easy to let your grooming habits fall to the wayside. But keep this up too long, and in a month you’ll be afraid to look yourself in the mirror! Swat those negative thoughts away. Put on your make up, for men- shave, put on an outfit that makes you feel beautiful, spray on your favorite perfume and you’ll be so much happier to go out into the world. we all know that a good hair day is the happiest day! So make sure your hair is on point ladies!
2. Get Out
When we get too self-conscious, we tend to spend the day alone, moping around. Even when we do go out for necessary activities such as work or errands, we’re constantly thinking about how great it is to get home. This is not the way to live your life! You’ll miss out on so many opportunities sitting around wallowing in your sadness. I’m not telling you to become a party animal (but to each her own!), just say ‘yes’ to that invitation for drinks with a friend. Say yes to impromptu lunches and fired time! Better yet…
3. Take Yourself on a Date (think shopping and dining!)
I can’t believe there’s still any stigma surrounding those who go to restaurants alone. I do it all the time. In fact, I am my own best friend! It’s so calming! There’s no taking your boyfriend’s allergies into account, and no gal pal to complain she hates Italian. Eat whatever you want to eat, dine wherever you want to go – what’s to lose? If you’re STILL not convinced, try taking yourself shopping or to the park. None of these self-dates have to be costly, but they DO have to get you out and make you happy. Self-dates are all about not letting anyone rain on your parade!
4. Say Goodbye to Your Inner Pack-rat
Who needs an entire closet full of memories, when those memories consist of shoes you never wear and books you never read. Not only will having a clean house boost your spirits, any anxiety that was radiating from obsessing over those past events will be brushed away. Carpe Diem does not translate into “Remember Yesterday.” Seize the day, my friends. Laugh and be joyful about things going on right this second, and I can guarantee you’ll see a world of difference.
5. Explore Your Interests
This whole list has been about having me-time that does not involve self-pity or sadness in any way, shape, or form. The best way to cast away negativity is to focus on your interests. Whether you love to ride your Harley or bake a mean vegetarian casserole, physically doing the activities you love will bring a fulfillment and satisfaction you forgot you were hungry for.
